Isaiah 55:1–3 (ESV) 1 “Come, everyone who thirsts, come to the waters; and he who has no money, come, buy and eat! Come, buy wine and milk without money and without price. 2 Why do you spend your money for that which is not bread, and your labor for that which does not satisfy? Listen diligently to me, and eat what is good, and delight yourselves in rich food. 3 Incline your ear, and come to me; hear, that your soul may live; and I will make with you an everlasting covenant (NLT: I will give you), my steadfast, sure love (NLT: I promised) for David.
Song “What the World Needs Now is Love (Sweet Love)”,
Was a Popular hit song in 1965 sang by Jackie DeShannon
The World needs a Touch of God’s Love.
In Isaiah 55,
God is encouraging and inviting Israel to Come back to Him.
God is saying that there is nothing better than to Serve and Live for Him.
Our Nation and World Today need to Come Back to Jesus Christ, the Messiah.
People are looking for Love in the Wrong Places.
God is Calling His Church to Action:
God’s people will not be fulfilled until we Answer the Call to obey the Great Commission.
Look at what the Apostle Paul said,
Acts 20:24 (NLT) But my life is worth nothing to me unless I use it for finishing the work assigned me by the Lord Jesus—the work of telling others the Good News about the wonderful grace of God.
It’s time for Christians to:
-Evangelize, Witness, Pray, Fast,
-Be Different than the World,
-Put Him First in your Life.
The nation of Israel had turned to follow other gods and idols.
God had to abandon them because of their sin.
Israel was taken Captive to Assyria and Babylon.
But, God promises to restore them.
God Still Loves His People and Has Compassion for them:
Isaiah 54:7–8 (NLT) 7 “For a brief moment I abandoned you, but with great compassion I will take you back. 8 In a burst of anger I turned my face away for a little while. But with everlasting love I will have compassion on you,” says the Lord, your Redeemer.
God’s Love and Compassion Invites People:
1. People who not Fulfilled and not Satisfied.
Isaiah 55:1–2 (ESV) 1 “Come, everyone who thirsts, come to the waters; and he who has no money, come, buy and eat! Come, buy wine and milk without money and without price.
2 Why do you spend your money for that which is not bread, and your labor for that which does not satisfy? Listen diligently to me, and eat what is good, and delight yourselves in rich food.
Nothing in this world can satisfy your soul, like Jesus can.
It has been said,
Every human heart has a God-shaped hole.
Jesus Christ is the only one who can fill that hole.
It’s like putting a square peg in a round hole.
There is nothing better than to serve and live for God.
Every other pursuit in life, without Jesus:
-Keeps you Thirsty:
-Wanting more,
-You never seem to get enough.
You can keep trying to buy more and more, but it will never fulfill you.
Think about your life without Jesus:
-Desires that were unfulfilled
-Emptiness inside your soul.
We must tell a hurting World that Jesus can fulfill their Life.
2. People who need the right Voice, Voice of God.
Isaiah 55:2 (ESV) Why do you spend your money for that which is not bread, and your labor for that which does not satisfy? Listen diligently to me, and eat what is good, and delight yourselves in rich food.
Isaiah 55:3 (ESV) 3 Incline your ear, and come to me; hear, that your soul may live; and I will make with you an everlasting covenant (NLT: I will give you), my steadfast, sure love (NLT: I promised) for David.
Isaiah 55:10–11 (ESV) 10 “For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven and do not return there but water the earth, making it bring forth and sprout, giving seed to the sower and bread to the eater, 11 so shall my word be that goes out from my mouth; it shall not return to me empty, but it shall accomplish that which I purpose, and shall succeed in the thing for which I sent it.
The Voice of God leads to Peace and Safety.
John 10:14–16 (NLT) 14 “I am the good shepherd; I know my own sheep, and they know me, 15 just as my Father knows me and I know the Father. So I sacrifice my life for the sheep. 16 I have other sheep, too, that are not in this sheepfold. I must bring them also. They will listen to my voice, and there will be one flock with one shepherd.
The Voice of the World leads to destruction:
John 10:10 (NLT) The thief’s purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life.
1 John 2:15–17 (NLT) 15 Do not love this world nor the things it offers you, for when you love the world, you do not have the love of the Father in you. 16 For the world offers only a craving for physical pleasure, a craving for everything we see, and pride in our achievements and possessions. These are not from the Father, but are from this world. 17 And this world is fading away, along with everything that people crave. But anyone who does what pleases God will live forever.
We must have the Word of God in us and live-out the Word
so that the World can see Jesus in us.
Matthew 5:13–16 (NLT) 13 “You are the salt of the earth. But what good is salt if it has lost its flavor? Can you make it salty again? It will be thrown out and trampled underfoot as worthless. 14 “You are the light of the world—like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden. 15 No one lights a lamp and then puts it under a basket. Instead, a lamp is placed on a stand, where it gives light to everyone in the house. 16 In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father.
Your godly-life may be the only Voice of God the lost will hear.
Your godly-life can draw lost souls to Salvation
and a genuine Relationship with Jesus.
1 Peter 2:1–3 (NKJV) 1 Therefore, laying aside all malice, all deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and all evil speaking,
2 as newborn babes, desire the pure milk of the word, that you may grow thereby, 3 if indeed you have tasted that the Lord is gracious.
