Great and Mighty Things

Great and Mighty Things

June 22, 2025

Jeremiah 33:1-3 (NKJV) 1 Moreover the word of the Lord came to Jeremiah a second time, while he was still shut up in the court of the prison, saying,

2 “Thus says the Lord who made it, the Lord who formed it to establish it (the Lord is His name):

3 ‘Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know.’

We are living in crucial times:

-We hear of wars: Israel vs Iran, Ukraine vs Russia.

-Violence, Drug Addiction, all around us.

-Politicians are being stalked and killed.

These are times of evil:

Ephesians 5:15–18 (ESV) 15 Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, 16 making the best use of the time, because the days are evil. 17 Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is. 18 And do not get drunk with wine, for that is debauchery, but be filled with the Spirit,

We are living in times where people have NO HOPE:

-Don’t have anything good to look forward to.

-Life throws things at us and we don’t know how to handle.

(Have you ever felt like that?

Are you feeling like that now?)

        We get these destructive emotions:

           Frustration, Anger, Hopelessness.

God wants to give you Peace in these difficult times:

Philippians 4:6–7 (ESV) 6 do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. 7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

God gives “Peace of God”, not Peace From God.

    Peace of God is Permanent.

Do you think God is worried or anxious about anything?

“Guard” (Greek: phrŏurĕō, froo-reh´-o): is a military word.

It means: To keep with a military guard.

A military army is used to guard a city and protect it.

When we stop to pray, instead of figuring things out,

God sends His army of angels to protect our heart and mind.

The situation may not change immediately,

but know that you are protected.

God wants to Bring Revival in evil Times.

Psalm 80:18–19 (NIV) 18 Then we will not turn away from you; revive us, and we will call on your name.

19 Restore us, Lord God Almighty; make your face shine on us,

that we may be saved.

    Revival does not come by

        being passive, distracted, or indifferent.

It comes when we repent and cry out.

It comes by being Desperate for God, Making Room for God.

God was saying to Jeremiah:

NOW IS THE TIME TO SEEK THE LORD.

Jeremiah lived in an evil time with no Peace, no Hope.

Jeremiah prophesied,

In a time when Judah was in slavery (taken captive) in Babylon.

His message was not accepted; it was rejected.

He was in prison for telling the truth to people.

Jeremiah 33:1 (NKJV)Moreover the word of the Lord came to Jeremiah a second time, while he was still shut up in the court of the prison, saying,

This is an Invitation from God to receive miracles:

    God’s Phone Number: Jeremiah 33:3

Jeremiah 33:3 (NKJV) ‘Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know.’

1. Call to Me.

King Jesus invites you into His Presence.

Don’t pray because you have problems.

Pray because the King invites you to His Presence.

Hebrews 4:15–16 (ESV) 15 For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin.

16 Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

It is a privilege to pray, not a burden.

2. I will answer you.

Jeremiah 33:3 (NKJV) ‘Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know.’

God Promises to Answer Our Prayers

Matthew 7:7–8 (ESV) 7 “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. 8 For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened.

    Prayer is not Therapy,

Prayer is not something to make you feel better.

Prayer is not a wishing well.

    God hears our Prayers:

    Example: Elijah

James 5:16–18 (NKJV) 16 Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much. 17 Elijah was a man with a nature like ours, and he prayed earnestly that it would not rain; and it did not rain on the land for three years and six months. 18 And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth produced its fruit.

3. “Show you great and mighty things, which you do not know.”

Jeremiah 33:3 (NKJV) ‘Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know.’

    There is Power in Prayer;

Miracles Happen when we pray in Faith.

Ephesians 3:20–21 (NKJV) 20 Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us,

21 to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.

Mark 9:23 (NKJV) Jesus said to him, “If you can believe,
