Bring Souls to Christ
March 23, 2025
John 1:35–42 (NLT) 35 The following day John was again standing with two of his disciples. 36 As Jesus walked by, John looked at him and declared, “Look! There is the Lamb of God!”
37 When John’s two disciples heard this, they followed Jesus.
38 Jesus looked around and saw them following. “What do you want?” he asked them. They replied, “Rabbi” (which means “Teacher”), “where are you staying?”
39 “Come and see,” he said. It was about four o’clock in the afternoon when they went with him to the place where he was staying, and they remained with him the rest of the day.
40 Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother, was one of these men who heard what John said and then followed Jesus. 41 Andrew went to find his brother, Simon, and told him, “We have found the Messiah” (which means “Christ”). 42 Then Andrew brought Simon to meet Jesus. Looking intently at Simon, Jesus said, “Your name is Simon, son of John—but you will be called Cephas” (which means “Peter”).
Proverbs 11:30 (NKJV) The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life,
And he who wins souls is wise.
v. 37. “Followed” means,
They turned their Allegiance to Jesus.
They continued on as His Disciples.
v. 38. “What do you want?”, could mean:
What do you seek in life?
v. 39. “Come and see,”
A person must first Come to Jesus, Then you will see.
This is Faith.
Step out in Faith before you see the miracle take place.
Knowing Jesus is the Greatest Gift anyone can have.
Jesus gave His life so that we can Have Life.
Isaiah 53:4–5 (NIV) 4 Surely he took up our pain and bore our suffering, yet we considered him punished by God, stricken by him, and afflicted. 5 But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed.
John 1:12–13 (NIV) 12 Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God—13 children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God.
John 3:16–17 (NIV) 16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.
v. 40-42a. Andrew brings his brother Simon (Peter) to Jesus.
Andrew is not the most famous of the disciples.
But he may have been the one who served the church the most.
Peter became the Leader and a great Preacher to multitudes.
In Acts 2, 3000 souls were saved after preaching his first sermon on the day of Pentecost.
Acts 2:40–41 (NLT) 40 Then Peter continued preaching for a long time, strongly urging all his listeners, “Save yourselves from this crooked generation!” 41 Those who believed what Peter said were baptized and added to the church that day—about 3,000 in all.
You never know who you will reach.
Example:
An unknown skinny country preacher (David Wilkerson) from Pennsylvania came to the Gang Infested streets of New York. David Wilkerson met Nicky Cruz and brought him to Jesus. Nicky Cruz has preached to multitudes all over the world and thousands of people have given their lives to Christ.
An old friend of Sonny Arguinzoni Sr. brought him to Teen Challenge. His life miraculously changed when he had an encounter with Jesus. Sonny Arguinzoni started Victory Outreach International and has planted over 700 ministries in over 30 countries of the world.
If Andrew had not “Come and See” where Jesus was staying, Peter may have never come to know Jesus.
Who knows who you will reach?
Following Jesus and Bringing souls to Christ,
can change thousands and thousands of Lives.
Romans 1:16 (ESV) For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.
Be a Wise Soul Winner:
Proverbs 11:30 (NKJV) The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life,
And he who wins souls is wise.
Proverbs 1:7 (NIV) The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction.
Fear means Reverence, Respect, Being in Awe of God.
Fear of the Lord acknowledges God’s good intentions.
Example:
Respect Fire: Fire can keep you warn, cook your food
or
Burn you, Start Wild Fires, and destroy homes.
Hebrews 12:28–29 (ESV) 28 Therefore let us be grateful for receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, and thus let us offer to God acceptable worship, with reverence and awe, 29 for our God is a consuming fire.
The Fruit of the Fear of the Lord is:
To have a Good Testimony.
Being a Good Example
Not Being a Hypocrite.
Daniel 12:3 (NIV) Those who are wise will shine like the brightness
of the heavens, and those who lead many to righteousness, like the stars forever and ever.
James 5:20 (ESV) let him know that whoever brings back a sinner from his wandering will save his soul from death and will cover a multitude of sins.
Romans 10:9–10 (NIV) 9 If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.
Song:
Lord, lay a soul upon my heart,
and love that soul through me
That I may ever do my part,
to win a soul for thee.
To win a soul for thee, dear Lord,
to win a soul for thee.
That I may ever do my part,
to win a soul for thee.
