A Soul Winning Church

2 Corinthians 5:17–21 (NKJV) 17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. 18 Now all things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation, 19 that is, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not imputing their trespasses to them, and has committed to us the word of reconciliation. 20 Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were pleading through us: we implore you on Christ’s behalf, be reconciled to God. 21 For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.
As Christians, we are not called to keep this salvation to ourselves.
We are A Soul Winning Church.
The Church is the People.
That means you are to be a Soul-Winning People.
1. You are not the same person.
2 Corinthians 5:17 (NKJV) Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.
You are a New Creation.
Being a New Creation involves:
a. Giving up the old sin in your life.
Matthew 16:24–26 (NKJV) — 24 Then Jesus said to His disciples, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me. 25 For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it. 26 For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?
You don’t Drink anymore
You don’t do Drugs anymore
You don’t Smoke anymore
You don’t fornicate (sex outside of marriage) anymore.
You don’t Cuss any more.
You don’t Hang Out with worldly people anymore.
You don’t (Fill in your own sin) anymore.
b. Your desires Change:
You desire to Please God.
You get a burden for souls.
Psalm 51:10–13 (NIV) 10 Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me. 11 Do not cast me from your presence or take your Holy Spirit from me. 12 Restore to me the joy of your salvation and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me. 13 Then I will teach transgressors your ways, so that sinners will turn back to you.
2. You are Reconciled to God.
2 Corinthians 5:18a (NKJV) Now all things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation,
“Reconciled” is a relationship that has changed:
From war, conflict, and strife to peace, harmony, and stability.
From Enemies to Friendship.
Romans 5:8, 10 (NIV) 8 But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
10 For if, while we were God’s enemies, we were reconciled to him through the death of his Son, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through his life!
3. You have been given the Ministry of Reconciliation.
2 Corinthians 5:18b-19 (NKJV) 18 Now all things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation,
19 that is, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not imputing their trespasses to them, and has committed to us the word of reconciliation.
-Jesus reconciled the world to Himself at the Cross.
-Jesus has committed or given us the message of Reconciliation,
Tell the world they can be Friends with God.
4. You are Christ’s Ambassador.
2 Corinthians 5:20 (NKJV) Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were pleading through us: we implore you on Christ’s behalf, be reconciled to God.
You are to Represent Jesus in this World.
Being a Soul Winner is Normal for the Christian.
It is Not Normal, Not to be a Soul Winner.
Every Christian is called to Be a Witness for Christ.
Acts 1:8 (NKJV) But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”
Part of Being a New Creation is having a Burden for Souls.
The Same Anointing that Jesus has,
is the Same Anointing Christians have.
Luke 4:18–19 (NKJV) 18 “The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, Because He has anointed Me To preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to the captives And recovery of sight to the blind, To set at liberty those who are oppressed; 19 To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord.”
This is Jesus’ Mission, and this is the Believer’s Mission.
