John 20:19–23 (NLT) 19 That Sunday evening the disciples were meeting behind locked doors because they were afraid of the Jewish leaders. Suddenly, Jesus was standing there among them! “Peace be with you,” he said. 20 As he spoke, he showed them the wounds in his hands and his side. They were filled with joy when they saw the Lord! 21 Again he said, “Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, so I am sending you.” 22 Then he breathed on them and said, “Receive the Holy Spirit. 23 If you forgive anyone’s sins, they are forgiven. If you do not forgive them, they are not forgiven.”
God wants to take us from The natural to the supernatural
God wants to raise up Spiritual Giants.
God wants to take us into Miracle Territory.
God wants to Bring Revival in these last days we are living in.
God has given us a Great Task.
We have a Vision
Not just a local vision, We also have a global vision.
Acts 1:8 (ESV) But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”
Victory Outreach has established new works in four countries in just one year:
Costa Rica
Sweden
Guatemala
Namibia, Africa
Victory Outreach is now in 40 countries worldwide.
There is much more that needs to be done.
Sometimes we get stuck in our own problems that we can’t see the vision.
We can get near-sighted.
That’s what happened to Jesus disciples.
They are going through one of the worst trials of their lives.
They just experienced Jesus being brutally tortured, crucified, and died on the cross.
Their faith in God is shattered.
They are not sure what will happen to them.
They ran away and locked themselves in a room, hiding from the Jewish Leaders.
They were afraid of being arrested and being killed themselves.
John 20:19 (NLT) That Sunday evening the disciples were meeting behind locked doors because they were afraid of the Jewish leaders.
People run because they are looking in the natural.
Your eyes are on the Problem, not the Promise.
When you feel like everything is lost, there is no hope, realize that your faith is being tested.
This is when we must Live In the Power of the Living Jesus!
Jesus is Alive, He is not Dead. He is there for you.
Live In the Power of the Living Jesus!
1. Enter into God’s Peace, It’s His gift to you.
John 20:19 (NLT) That Sunday evening the disciples were meeting behind locked doors because they were afraid of the Jewish leaders.Suddenly, Jesus was standing there among them! “Peace be with you,” he said.
Jesus did not rebuke them for abandoning Him, running away, being unfaithful.
Jesus reminded them of His Peace:
John 14:27 (NLT) “I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid.
a. Peace is a gift from God.
b. Peace comes from God. God’s peace cannot be found in the world.
c. Don’t be surprised when you go through trials.
John 16:33 (NLT) I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world.”
You can have Peace during trials.
Jesus wanted them to experience God’s peace, even if the Jewish leaders still wanted to arrest the disciples.
Circumstances may not change immediately. But remember God is with you.
Live In the Power of the Living Jesus:
2. Be filled with Joy
John 20:20 (NLT) 20 As he spoke, he showed them the wounds in his hands and his side. They were filled with joy when they saw the Lord!
When the disciples finally realized they were in the presence of God, they were filled with Joy.
As Christians, we must realize that God is with us to bring joy.
John 15:11 (NLT) I have told you these things so that you will be filled with my joy. Yes, your joy will overflow!
Psalm 16:11 (ESV) You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.
You may not see Jesus but you are still in His Presence.
Live In the Power of the Living Jesus.
3. Respond to the Mission
John 20:21 (NLT) Again he said, “Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, so I am sending you.”
Jesus was saying the work of God must continue.
The Good News of the Gospel is still needed today.
Matthew 28:18–20 (NLT) 18 Jesus came and told his disciples, “I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth. 19 Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. 20 Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”
Mark 16:15–16 (NLT) 15 And then he told them, “Go into all the world and preach the Good News to everyone. 16 Anyone who believes and is baptized will be saved. But anyone who refuses to believe will be condemned.
